Information about Argor-Heraeus SA
Founded in 1951 in south-eastern Switzerland under the name Argor, it is one of the oldest Swiss refineries. In 1960, the Swiss bank UBS acquired 80% of Argor's shares. In 1986 UBS sells 25% of Heraeus shares, and Heraeus and UBS form Argor-Heraeus SA. The refinery has an annual refining capacity of approximately 400 tons. It is currently jointly owned by the Austrian Mint, the German industrial and precious metals group Heraeus, and the German bank Commerzbank.
